  • Valid Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) license (active TCOLE Peace Officer License exemption for college credit hours requirement)
  • Thirty-six (36) months of full-time certified law enforcement experience with a city, county, or state law enforcement agency
  • A minimum of thirty-six (36) months of service in the Armed Forces of the United States with an Honorable Discharge
  • Spanish/English Equivalency Test (College Level Exam Placement-CLEP) may substitute for up to twelve (12) semester credit hours
  • Applicants under the age of twenty-one (21) must have at least sixty (60) semester hours of college credit from an accredited college or university with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher
